Some Images of "Computers" from my Childhood

Computers always had rows and rows of blinking lights and spinning tape drives. Input was always from mysterious cards with lots small rectangular punched holes. Output was always in the form of tape, spit out from a slot somewhere on the computer. This much was certain!

Desk Set (1957) starring Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, was a great film and starred the electronic behemoth, EMERAC. A real classic!

Cartoons were filled with computers. One of my favorites was the Mr. Peabody's Wayback Machine. Sherman sure was lucky to have a friend as smart and cool as Mr. Peabody!

Batman and Robin were huge geeks! They had their own computer. Why couldn't I have one of my own, too?!
